About Billy Kuenzinger

Billy J. Kuenzinger currently serves as President and General Counsel of BDA Sports Management, a global sports management agency representing more than 120 professional basketball players in the NBA, Europe, Russia, Asia and Puerto Rico. He joined BDA in 2009 as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel and was elevated to his current position of President and General Counsel in January 2011. In his current position, Mr. Kuenzinger is responsible for the overall strategic planning, operations, and day-to-day management of BDA, and is responsible for all corporate governance, legal, business and operational matters for both BDA’s domestic and international operations. He also negotiates and oversees matters for BDA’s clients, including endorsement and licensing agreements, international player contracts, complex business transactions, and general legal issues. In this capacity, he advises BDA’s clients in the areas of business and corporate law, sports and entertainment law, intellectual property, and international business law.

In addition to his position with BDA, Mr. Kuenzinger currently serves as Of Counsel to the law firm of Damrell, Nelson, Schrimp, Pallios, Pacher & Silva in Modesto, California, serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Showtime Racing, Inc. and is also the acting Chairman of the Board for Yao Family Wines. He sits in advisory roles to several other companies.

Mr. Kuenzinger is a member of the State Bar of California and Stanislaus County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Eastern, Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.  He is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association and the Country Music Association.

Mr. Kuenzinger received a B.A. in Political Science from California State University, Stanislaus in 1988.  He received his J.D. cum laude from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Michigan, in 1991.  He also was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Advocacy.

Following law school, Mr. Kuenzinger was an associate, then partner, in the law firm of Clifford & Brown in Bakersfield, California, from 1992 to 2002 and was an associate, then partner, in the law firm of Brown, Hall, Shore, & McKinley, LLP in Stockton, California, from 2002 to 2009.  During those 17 years, his practice focused on business law, with significant work in the sports and entertainment industry. He previously served as a member of the board of the Stockton Sports Commission.
