About Katie Mitchell
Katie Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. She received her Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse.
She is currently completing the coursework required to receive the Certified Personal Training certificate from the prestigious Cooper Institute in Dallas.
Katie is responsible for the direction of fitness at Curves. She works closely with Richard B. Kreider, PhD, FACSM, FISSN, head of the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University, with his ongoing, unrestricted research of the Curves program.
She teaches college-accredited kinesiology courses to club owners and staff through Curves University and provides direction, content and an on-camera presence for educational DVDs that deliver additional training to Curves franchisees and staff.
Katie was an avid health and fitness enthusiast growing up— involved in school athletics, competitive gymnastics for 17 years and competitive sprinting for eight. Through her participation in competitive sports and experience in coaching young athletes, she developed a passion for fitness and helping others achieve their goals.
Her passion to teach others how to incorporate fitness and healthy living into their daily activities really deepened after Katie saw multiple members of her family affected by heart disease and high blood pressure.
Knowing regular exercise and healthy weight maintenance are two key ingredients to the prevention of those and other chronic diseases, she was determined to do all she could to reduce her risks while educating her family, friends, and others about how they could do the same.
She found a perfect fit at Curves because of its well-researched and proven results, its mission to Strengthen Women, and the community of support it provides its members.
In her spare time, Katie loves to train for competitive events like triathlons and mud runs.
